The Story
Beyond the System is a riveting documentary told through the eyes of creator Shondale Nicole Atkinson. Her personal journey through Montgomery County’s foster care system during the crack epidemic anchors a powerful exploration of trauma, resilience, and the divergent paths of children the system is meant to protect.
Intentionally produced by Blaque Productions, the series is an unflinching look at systemic failures and a testament to the power of community leadership.
Our Goal
Is to inspire advocacy and drive policy change. We shed light on the flaws in the current system to lobby for better provisions and healthy, permanent residences for underserved youth. This series is a call to action.
